Description
VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. Which is, a remote display system which allows you to view a computing 'desktop' environment not only on the machine where it is running, but from anywhere on the Internet and from a wide variety of machine architectures.
It is possible, for example, use a VNC viewer running on a PC on the desktop to display the screens from servers based in a remote computer room.
Imhotek have taken the Java source code for VNC, and from this created an installer package for Symbian based systems. Along the way, we have added a few additional features to make it easier to use on these platforms.
Additional features include
- Addition of scroll-bars
- Addition of help window for Symbian instructions
- Changes to login screen, to enable password to be entered at the same time as the server details
- The ability to store a number of server profiles in a configuration file
- The ability to hide the button bar, for maximum screen size
Platforms include both EPOC release 5 devices (Psion Revo, 5mx, 7 and netBook), EPOC release 6 devices (Nokia 9210) and release 7 devices (Sony Ericsson p800/900).
This product is available free.
